Abhinav Gupta

Abhinav Gupta serves as President and Co‑Founder of Skild AI. Also a former CMU Robotics Institute professor, Gupta co‑launched the company with Deepak Pathak in 2023, after years of collaborating at FAIR and in academia.

Gupta completed his undergraduate studies in computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology and earned a PhD from the University of Maryland. His research background spans robotics manipulation, locomotion, and navigation—work that had amassed over 75,000 citations by late 2024.

At Skild AI, Gupta champions the core principle of generalizability—a single AI “brain” that can adapt across different robot types, from quadrupeds to humanoids to mobile manipulators, and across vastly different tasks—from home chores to physically demanding operations. He highlights the model’s depth of adaptability and robustness, asserting that Skild AI’s approach represents a departure from the siloed, vertical-model systems common in robotics today.
