Molly Johnson

Molly Johnson is the Senior Director of Data Science at Avista Therapeutics, based in Pittsburgh, PA. She earned her degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017 and has since focused on applying computational methods to solve complex biological problems. At the New York Genome Center, she contributed to pipeline development for the cancer genomics core and created custom analysis solutions for research labs nationwide. In 2019, she began working in the gene therapy space with Dr. Leah Byrne, Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh and CSO of Avista Therapeutics, and officially joined Avista in 2021. Molly now leads the data science team, which develops in-house tools to optimize gene therapy platforms. She is passionate about leveraging data science to drive therapeutic innovation and improve patient outcomes.
